In addition, the Technical Services Librarian works the Circulation Desk, answers reference questions, contributes to the maintenance of public and staff computers and software, and interacts positively with the public in person, on the phone and online.

Volleyball Official (Independent Contractor)

Churchill County is seeking two qualified individuals who are willing to serve in the role of Volleyball Official. This position is contracted with the Churchill County Parks and Recreation Department and is paid as an independent contractor.

The people who are granted this contract will referee volleyball games for the women’s and co-ed leagues that are hosted during the fall. The refereeing tasks include the setup and takedown of the facility, collection of lost and found articles, keeping track of volleyballs during the season, and scorekeeping for the games.

Depending on scheduling of the seasons, the officials will work on Tuesday and/or Thursday each week and will be paid $17.50/game. (One night per week usually only happens when there is a holiday.) Each night typically features four games, scheduled an hour apart beginning at 6:00pm. Each official will referee two games a night, unless there is only one official and therefore will officiate all four games each night. The 2013 season will begin August 13 and end on December 17. The women’s season runs first and the co-ed season will start following the completion of the women’s season.

Lifeguard/Swim Instructor

Applications are invited for the part-time, casual positions of Lifeguard/Swim Instructor for the Churchill County Pool. The duties include teaching swim lessons, performing basic lifeguard functions, enforcing pool rules and regulations, performing routine maintenance and custodial functions, performing inspections of pool and equipment and frequent interaction with the public.

Employees are often re-hired beyond the season to perform lifeguard duties throughout the year. There are no retirement or county health benefits. Hours are flexible to meet public needs and at times make the following conditions mandatory: shift work, split shifts, rotating work schedule and weekdays. Number of hours worked per week will vary based on the needs of the public.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
   Ability to perform the following swimming skills:
     Front crawl       Sidestroke
     Back crawl       Breaststroke
     Swim under water       Tread

Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid certification required by start of job for Lifeguard positions.

Water Safety Instructor certification must be obtained within one year.

Any combination of education and/or experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities.
