Mission - Vision - Purpose - Function

The mission of the Assessor’s office is to ensure that all Churchill County Taxpayers will receive an equitable assessment of their property, conducted in accordance with Nevada Revised Statutes and regulations of the Nevada Tax Commission. In addition, we will ensure each customer receives prompt, courteous, and professional service. Our vision is to ensure that advanced technology works proficiently within our organization.

It is the primary function of the Assessor’s Office to locate and appraise all taxable (real and personal) property within the boundaries of Churchill County and provide assessed values for each.

These assessed values are tabulated by
taxing district (city, county, or non-water
conservancy)
and reported, not only to
the Department of Taxation, but local entities
as well.

Ultimately, through the levy of property tax, it is these assessed values, which will provide Churchill County programs with needed funding.

Property taxes help fund the School District, the General County, the City of Fallon, the Hospital, Mosquito Abatement, Law Enforcement, the Library, the Fire Department equipment, etc.

The Churchill County Assessor's Office does not set the tax rate, but rather provides the Churchill County Commissioners and City Council with assessed values to help them arrive at the tax rate. For 1999, the total assessed value of the property in Churchill County is approximately $402,000,000.

The Churchill County Assessor's Office also assists in
processing transfers in ownership for manufactured
homes and we continue to issue the moving permits
required to move a manufactured home from one
location to another. Furthermore, we assist in the
processing of the conversion of manufactured homes
to real property.
Property taxes help fund the School

Mosquito Abatement, Law
Enforcement, the Library, the

The Churchill County Assessor's office stays very active in the Assessor's Association and maintains a very good working relationship with the Department of Taxation, which is now able to view our programs electronically, thereby reducing much of their travel costs, as well as promoting further standardization and efficiency.
