Assessor's Office is one of the largest disseminators of public
information in Churchill County. Our office keeps a large database of
information on the county's IBM AS400 computer. This database includes
all real and personal property records, legal descriptions, value and
ownership history, exemptions, etc.
A complete sales data bank of all valid sales of vacant and improved
real property is maintained. This is available on both computer
terminals and hard records in the "Public Information Center"
in the Assessor's Office. There are several public use terminals
available in the public information center. In addition, our local
title companies have been accessing public information via modem to the
AS400.
We answer approximately 1,200 calls per month, including
questions concerning parcel numbers, addresses, size, location of
property and buildings, appraised values, taxes, manufactured homes,
senior citizens rebates, exemptions, and support calls.
Since our office is one of the largest disseminators of information,
we receive numerous requests for "special queries". We now
have the ability to do file transfers, so we can supply this information
in various formats.
The Assessor's Office continues to work very diligently, taking full
advantage of the newest technology provided in order to keep up with the
increasing workload, while maintaining the existing number of staff
members.
Much of the success in our office can be attributed to the fact that
the many staff members continue to keep their job skills upgraded,
making the transition to new technology a smooth one.
