CDBG Annual Project Priorities
& Release of Application Notice
Churchill County intends to apply for funds from the State of Nevada Community Grant Program for program year 2009. The public is invited to participate by providing ideas, comments, and suggestions concerning potential project priorities at the regularly scheduled meeting of the Churchill County Commissioners on November 21, 2007 at 1:15 pm.
Public participation is requested regarding Community projects for upcoming funding. On November 1st, 2007 at a regularly scheduled County Commission Meeting the priorities were purposed:
Industrial Park Infrastructure:
- Provision of basic water and sewer services for an industrial park along Trento Lane provides an opportunity for job creation and economic development.
HWY 50 Water and Sewer planning:
- Expansion of the County water and sewer system west along Hwy 50
Water and Sewer for low to Moderate Income Residents / Communities:
- Identify county residences & communities that have been identified with water & sewer needs that could cause health issues for community residents.
Community Parks and Recreation:
- Identify community recreation needs for the newly acquired property Soda Lake and Little Soda.
- Expansion of ADA parking and access for the Churchill County Fairgrounds.
Affordable Housing:
- Continue to support developers that provide affordable housing opportunities within the
community
- Provide and support opportunities for community members to access homeownership
opportunities
- Elimination of housing which is considered inadequate & blight areas
- Support & encourage fair housing activities for low income, disabled, elderly, and minority
groups
For Program year 2009 the US Department of Housing and Urban Development will make approximately $2.7 million available for community facilities, planning, and capacity building, and economic development grants through a competitive grant process to Nevada’s 27 non-entitlement cities and counties.
Applications will be available November 6th, 2007 – December 19th, 2007 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Churchill County Clerk Treasurer’s office located at 155 North Taylor Street, Suite #110, Fallon, Nevada 89406. Applications can also be obtained at the Community Development Block Grant link at www. churchillcounty.org as of November 6th, 2007. Churchill County Clerk Treasurer’s office will be accepting applications until November 26th, 2007 at 5:00 pm, CLOSING.
It is anticipated that no displacement of persons will occur as a direct result of these projects. The County’s applications, anti-displacement plan, community development and housing needs statement, and a description of the County’s past performance of CDBG grants will be available for public inspection at the Churchill County Social Services office Monday through Friday from 9a.m. – 5p.m. excluding major holidays. Written comments should be addressed to Churchill County Social Services, 485 West B St, Suite 105 Fallon, NV 89406 no later than November 20th, 2007 5:00 pm.
