Meet The Sheriff
 Sheriff Ben Trotter
Sheriff Ben Trotter

Hi, I’m Sheriff Ben Trotter. I moved to Churchill County in 1995 to fill an open position with the Fallon Police Department where I worked until I assumed the elected position of Churchill County Sheriff in 2011. My law enforcement career includes time in patrol division as a patrol officer and sergeant and investigations division as a detective. In 2010, I earned a Master of Business Administration Degree.

I take very seriously the crux of the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office Mission and Values Statements - “We are servants.” I believe since I am here to serve those who serve you, my position is that of the ultimate servant. With this in mind, I have an open door policy both to members of our agency and to you the citizens of Churchill County.

Other ideals I take to heart are:

The Golden Rule” – I try to treat the people I work with as I would like to be treated.

Employee-centered Leadership” – I understand my work is to facilitate the jobs of the officers serving us all. If they are first priority to me, you will be first priority to them…and we will serve you better.

Open Door” – I remain accessible, approachable and open to new ideas.

Competition breeds innovation” – I believe a competitive environment in our agency will bring out the best in all of us.

Put the best tools in the hands of those who use them” – Those doing the ground work should have the best of the resources available.

Oath of Office” – I swore to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States which I believe is the Supreme Protector of Rights in our land. I keep my promises.

I was honored to be elected your Sheriff and will strive to be the servant you elected me to be.
