Renewable Energy

Churchill County is proud to support its county with many different types of renewable energy within its borders.  From Geothermal power to wind to solar, the ability to use renewable energy has put Churchill County far ahead of many other counties.  According to NV Energy, Nevada is second only to California in the development and use of geothermal resources.

These facilities are located throughout Churchill County.  For example, one facility located 10 miles east of Fallon, is both a geothermal and solar power plant comprising 89,000 solar panels can generate 59 megawatts, which is capable of powering over 30,000 homes.

Even within the counties own departments do we see a use in renewable energy.  The Churchill County Parks and Recreation Department recently installed three seperate shade structures for generating solar power.  These structures located throughout the Churchill County Fairgrounds generate power for three seperate building saving the county an average of X dollars throughout the year.
