Reserves

The Churchill County Sheriff's Office Reserve program currently has 15 active members. The Reserve Program is a voluntary program made up of private citizens who have an interest in law enforcement and an ardent desire to serve the community in which they live.

Applicants for Reserve Deputy Sheriff must complete an extensive training program covering many different aspects of law enforcement before becoming a member of this valuable unit.

The training is conducted twice weekly for a 2-month duration.

Some training items covered are: traffic stops, felony stops, domestic battery, building searches, emergency vehicle operation, defensive tactics and extensive weapons training.

The Reserve Deputy assists both our Patrol Division and Detention Division. The Reserve Deputy assists with transports, court security, Detention operations, Patrol operations, stakeouts and special events.

The Reserve program also gives people who are interested in full time employment in law enforcement an inside look at what will be expected of them. It also gives our Department an inside look at the capabilities of future employment prospects.
