About the Notary Bond
The Nevada Secretary of State is charged with the responsibility of appointing notaries by the provisions of Chapter 240 of the Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS). At this time, there are more than 25,000 notaries public actively serving the people of Nevada. Notaries provide services ranging from taking acknowledgments, executing jurats, and administering oaths to certifying copies. They serve in law firms, title companies, banks, government offices, and many other private businesses.
Apply to be a Notary Public
Applications to apply to be a notary public are available on the Nevada Secretary of State's website with instructions as to how to proceed. A bond must be purchased from any bonding company, and then filed with the county clerk's office. The fee to file the notary bond is $20. We will then give a filing notice to the applicant to send back to the secretary of state.
If you have further questions, please email the Clerk's Office.
