We are in unprecedented times as we come to terms the COVID-19 virus and our efforts to protect our collective, community health. To that end, we want to provide some local clarification on state-mandated orders that have come out in the last few days and to end by asking for your help.
Non-Essential Business Closures
Churchill County wishes to express its appreciation to all the business owners in our community who are making necessary adjustments to the way they do business in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We recognize the sacrifice that is being made by many to comply with the Governor’s directive for the closure of non-essential businesses. Please know that we are here to assist where we can.
There are many businesses that hold both a City of Fallon and Churchill County business license. Churchill County and the City of Fallon are working closely together in order to remain consistent in how we educate and enforce the Governor’s directive on business closures.
Churchill County business license holders who have questions or concerns about how to comply with the Governor’s directive are encouraged to call the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office (775) 423-3116 or the Churchill County District Attorney’s Office (775) 423-6561. If a business holds a license with both the City and the County, they are free to call either entity for direction. The City’s number (775) 423-5104.
Our goal is to first educate and assist businesses in complying before taking any such action.
Businesses holding a Churchill County business license that refuse to comply with the Governor’s directive may be subject to enforcement measures taken by the county that may include business liquor license suspension or revocation.
On March 24, Governor Sisolak released Directive 007 prohibiting the gathering of 10 or more persons in any indoor or outdoor area. This directive applies to both public and private property where the public has access by right or invitation. We encourage the public to review this order and take every effort to comply.
