The Churchill County offers the following information in response to phone calls coming into the health department regarding positive COVID tests:
If you test positive for COVID-19, you will receive a letter from Churchill County regarding quarantine as soon as that positive test result is received at the county health department. It can take up to three days for us to contact you after you receive your results from your health care provider. A contact tracer from the county will call you as soon as possible but we have experienced a drastic increase in positive cases, which has caused a back log in tracing. Everyone who has tested, whether you have a positive or negative result, will be called.
What you can do to help
If you tested positive, quarantine yourself and develop a detailed list of where you have been and who you have been in contact with, including dates and times. Contact those individuals you have had close contact with and urge them to test five days after being in contact with you.
If you feel you have been a direct contact of a positive case
Test after five days of the contact, use precautions (wearing a face mask, social distancing and frequently washing your hands) when not at home and self-isolate as much as possible. If you feel ill, test immediately and self-isolate.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through the volume of new positive cases.
