Next in a series of stories on local contractors who worked to build the Rafter 3C Arena.

In keeping with its desire to hire as many local contractors as possible to build the Rafter 3C Arena, Churchill County reached out to McFadden Electric to provide the electrical plans.

Working from the outset in 2020, McFadden did the electrical design in the initial concept and design phases of construction, providing all electrical conduit, wiring and power systems for the arena including power for the lights and outlets, the video and audio systems and the heating and cooling systems. They also installed the fire alarm system.

McFadden supplied and installed the back-up generator and the auto-transfer switch to provide power to the building should the primary system go off-line.

McFadden installed all the exterior lighting and the parking lot lighting.

“They were fantastic to work with,” said Chris Spross, the Churchill County’s public works & planning director. “They went out of their way to make sure the project was completed they way we wanted it and were able to accommodate multiple work order changes throughout the process.”

He added that McFadden worked closely with other trades to maximize production while minimizing schedule impacts.

“They were one step ahead to make sure all required infrastructure was installed for the needed utilities,” Spross said.

McFadden Electric’s contract for the job to date is $1.1 million.

The Rafter 3C Arena is Churchill County’s newest event space and will be home to rodeo and livestock events along with craft shows, equipment events and smaller meeting-type gatherings. The Churchill County Junior Livestock Show and Sale is taking place in the arena this weekend.
