As summer winds down and we look to the start of the fall season, stop by the Churchill County Library for a book, a workshop, computer time or just to say hello in an airconditioned space!
Special Events
Storytime graduation on August 2 and 3 at regular story time both days. Come out to celebrate the story timers who are entering kindergarten this fall.
Teen Library council meets on August 2 at 2 p.m.
Fly-a-drone workshop takes place on August 2 at 3:30 p.m.
The Churchill Library Association’s popular fundraiser, Books, Bites & Beverages, returns to the library on August 11 at 6:30 p.m. with refreshments, beverages, raffle baskets and a wine pull. Come out for a fun evening and support the library! Tickets are $30 and available at the library or at the door the night of the event.
Senator Rosen’s office representative holds open hours at the library on August 10 at 1 p.m.
Reading with Rover takes place on August 10 at 3:30 p.m. Children can practice their reading to a very forgiving and patient audience of therapy dogs.
Stop Motion Animation workshop on August 16 at 3:30 p.m.
Need a career change? Let EmployNV help you with aspects of finding a new job on August 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the library.
Elementary Book Club begins August 24 at 3:30 p.m. for second, third and fourth graders who really loved the Summer Reading Program. Kids will read and discuss one book each month and the books are yours to keep.
Tuesdays
The Knitting Club meets at 10 a.m. on August 1, 15 and 22 and welcomes both novice and advanced knitters. They are willing to offer advice and tips and offer encouragement on your project.
Virtual Reality drop-in sessions take place on August 1, 8, 15 and 22 at 3:15 p.m. All welcome to stop by!
The Writer’s Group meets at 5 p.m. each Tuesday and welcomes you to discover what area writers are inspired by and working on. Bring your own manuscript to add a few paragraphs.
Wednesdays
Story time is on summer vacation Aug. 7 through 30 when it returns at 11 a.m.
3-D printing workshop takes place August 9 and 23 at 3:30 p.m.
Thursdays
Children’s story time on hiatus Aug. 7 through August 30 and returns on Aug. 31 at 10 and 11 a.m.
Knitting Club meets again at 3 p.m.
Fridays
STEAM sessions with VR are on Fridays at 1:30 p.m.
Have a problem with your computer or smartphone? Head over the William N. Pennington Life Center on Fridays from 10 to 11 a.m. and get answers from Technical Services Librarian Joe Salsman, an expert in all things technology!
Hours of operation
Library hours of operation are Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed on Sundays and major holidays.
